Mikal Cartier - Chief Executive Officer

Mikal embarked on his professional journey after attaining a bachelor's degree in accounting. He started his career as an Accountant at Brown and Caldwell in Atlanta, but the magnetic pull of his South Florida roots eventually brought him back home to work for Proctor & Gamble in Miami. 

With a career that spans over two decades, Mikal boasts more than 20 years of financial expertise, including a decade-long tenure at TaskForce. Interestingly, Mikal initially joined TaskForce as a part-time bookkeeper while still serving as Senior Accountant to an international solar energy company. 

In addition to his pivotal role at TaskForce, Mikal currently serves on the Broward County Homeless Continuum of Care (HCOC) Board and is also Chairman of the Broward County Homeless Provider and Stakeholders' Council. These roles underscore his unwavering commitment to addressing homelessness and making meaningful contributions to the local community. In his free time, Mikal enjoys spending time with family and navigating the open waters.

Jacob Torner - Vice President, Programs

Jacob leads the organization's strategy for delivering high-quality programs and services. Equipped with an education in Public Administration, Jacob has devoted his professional endeavors to the human services sector. He is highly skilled in collaborating with local governments and developing sustainable communities. During his career, he has crafted many innovative programs that apply evidence-based strategies for reducing homelessness and expanding access to affordable housing. As a seasoned public speaker, Jacob has shared his insights at noteworthy conferences hosted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, Florida Coalition to End Homelessness, Planetree, among others. In 2018, his impactful contributions were celebrated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), recognizing Jacob as an integral team member that brought an end to chronic veteran homelessness in Miami-Dade. Jacob currently serves on the Government Affairs Council of Greater Fort Lauderdale. He is also a certified mediation instructor. Jacob spends his free time enjoying nature and volunteering with animal-welfare organizations.
